The creator of the series “Grey’s Anatomy” confided in the end of the medical series in an interview granted to “Variety”, this Sunday, November 7.

The first broadcast of the series “Grey’s Anatony” on “ABC” dates back to 2005. Since then, the medical series has counted eighteen seasons, making it the oldest series on the channel. It is therefore not abnormal to wonder when the adventures of Meredith Gray at Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital will end. A question to which the creator Shonda Rhimes expressed herself in an interview granted to “Variety”, this Sunday, November 7.

“I wrote the end a good eight times”

“I’ve written the end of this series, I mean, a good eight times,” she told the magazine. I was like, ‘And that will be the end!’ Or, ‘That will be the last thing that was said or done!’ And all these things have already happened. So I give up, you know what I mean? “From season 14, in 2017, Shonda Rhimes decided to give the reins of the series to Krista Vernoff who was one of the original screenwriters, to be able to devote herself to other series like “Scandal” or “ How to Get Away with Murder”.

However, the “Grey’s Anatony” creator still has the power to say when the series will end. “Am I the person who decides when the series is over? Yes. And I take full responsibility if everyone gets mad at me,” she explained. But, no longer being at the head of the series, she is not sure of the role she will take in the choice of the finale. “Am I going to be the person who decides the final scene? I don’t know, she said. If you had asked me this question three years ago, or before Krista arrived, I would have answered: ”Yes, I can tell you exactly how it will end”. But once you hand over for good, it’s just different. So I don’t know yet. »

In an interview for “Variety” last October, Ellen Pompeo also mentioned the end of “Grey’s Anatomy”. “We don’t know yet when the series will really end. But the truth is that this year could be the last,” she revealed. Over the years, the series has already survived many departures of important characters from the cast.
